New Veterinary School

Morgan Sindall Construction has commenced work on the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) new Veterinary School.

The project comprises the partial refurbishment of the existing Greenbank Building and the creation of a four-storey structure which will include high-specification anatomical skills laboratories, simulated operating theatres, diagnostic suites and pharmacies, microscopy labs, dental rooms and immersive teaching facilities.

Once complete, the school, spanning nearly 50,000 sq ft on the university’s Preston Campus, will provide a centre of learning for students studying a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the veterinary and animal sciences.

The North West team at Morgan Sindall Construction is creating the new building to universal accessibility standards and will use modern methods of construction to reduce embodied carbon within the building.

“As Lancashire’s only Vet School, it will play a major role in developing the veterinary practitioners and leaders of the future and supporting economic growth in the north.

It is anticipated that the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
