Corksol UK launches a state of the art antiviral spray solution to help protect surfaces against harmful bacteria and viruses, including SARS and Coronavirus 

Corksol UK, the Yorkshire-based company that exclusively distributes Corksol SprayCork to approved applicators across the UK, has announced the launch of a new, innovative spray solution, Protesol Anitviral, which is scientifically proven to protect treated surfaces against 99.99% of harmful bacteria and viruses, including SARS and Coronavirus.

With COVID-19 dominating the health agenda, Corksol took matters into its own hands sourcing an antiviral solution that seeks to reduce transmission of Coronavirus between individuals by protecting surfaces. Effective for use on a variety of materials including plastic, ceramic, metal, laminate and some painted surfaces, Protesol Antiviral Spray can be applied to most nonporous surfaces and is suitable for both commercial and domestic use.

The coating works to destroys any harmful bacteria and viruses currently cultivating on the surface, before creating a barrier-effect which eliminates any opportunity for bacteria or viruses to grow. Most viruses, including Coronavirus, have a fatty surround and in order to kill the virus effectively, a cleaning agent must get through this robust fatty layer to get to the virus itself. Protesol Antiviral has already seen successful trials in Spain, most recently with furniture giant IKEA. The coating was applied to serving trays in restaurants and trialled over a four week period, with the solution remaining intact and active even when put through the dishwasher repeatedly. Protesol is also running a trail period with Aldi for use on their basket handles, and a number of other large companies in Spain, including a train and furniture manufacturer.

The first company to trial the use of Protesol Antiviral was Ofita, manufacturers of designer furniture. CEO of the Spanish company, Camilo Agromayor added: “The virus-safe desks are a unique milestone in the challenge of achieving safer offices, particularly against Coronavirus. This protection is a guarantee of greater safety to our customers, both in individual workstations and in common spaces shared by multiple people.”

Application of the coating is simple and straightforward, making it a viable option for any maintenance team who can easily apply it. The solution is sprayed onto a non-porous surface using a spray gun for large scale coverage, or simply add drops of the solution onto the surface and apply by hand with a microfibre cloth for smaller areas. To set the coating, using a paint stripping heat gun will help seal the resin in place, but it can be left to cure naturally in some circumstances, like in a school over the summer holidays.

Signage expert Stocksigns Ltd. has launched a new ‘Create Your Own Sign’ application on its website. The new feature allows customers to quickly make tailor-made adjustments to a wide range of standard health and safety signs or create bespoke signs using a variety of text and images – custom signage made easy.

 

 

With the easy-to-use web-based plug-in, users can customise a wide range of standard health and safety signs from four signage categories – . After selecting a sign to customise, users can then click on the simple drop-down menu to select both the material and size required. Material options available include aluminium composite material (ACM), 1mm rigid plastic, 22swg (0.75mm) aluminium and self-adhesive vinyl.

Yeoman Shield Protects 24/7 at North Birmingham Academy

North Birmingham Academy opened the doors of its £23.6 million state of the art facilities in 2013.

Not only does the building cater for the everyday requirements of a school environment for 11-19 year olds but also accommodates out of hours school clubs and activities, some like The Zone sports hall and conference facilities open to the general public.

Automatic wall divides stepped lecture theatre

As part of a £1.7m investment, Loughborough University recently remodelled Quorn Hall into an impressive 560-seat lecture theatre. Adding functionality to the new facility, Style was contracted to install a 57dB Dorma Hüppe Variflex ComfortDrive moveable wall system with fully automatic operation, allowing the vast space to be divided into two separate areas.

A complex project, Style was specified by Core Architects to design a system that not only accommodated the exceptionally high ceiling but that also incorporated the stepped-rise of the seating.

The final installation allows University staff to divide the space at the press of a button, with the operable wall gliding effortlessly along a dedicated central channel between the seating. Creating an unparalleled acoustic barrier, substantial rubber seals expand to just the right pressure, allowing concurrent lectures to run completely undisturbed.

An integrated pass door provides access between the divided rooms whilst an oak laminate finish adds to the stunning interior design.

Loughborough University is one of the country’s leading universities with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research, strong links with business and industry and unrivalled sporting achievement.

 

 

Quorn Hall originally housed a sports hall, changing rooms, offices and a small lecture theatre. The re-development project to create the new, much larger lecture theatre had to be carried out whilst the main building and café facilities were in constant use.

Because of the complexity of the project, Style had to work particularly closely with Wildgoose Construction, who was responsible for lifting 2 x 26 metre steel supports into place by crane, lowering them via chains through pockets cut into the roof.

“Dividing such a cavernous lecture theatre with a fully automated moveable wall takes careful planning and the very best on-site project management,” said Steve Williams, sales director for Style Midlands.

“We therefore developed a close working partnership with both the architect and contractor to install a product which is utterly breath-taking.

CROWN PROVIDES A NEW LOOK FOR VICTORIAN SCHOOL

Grove Road Community Primary School, which is one of Harrogate’s oldest schools, has recently refurbished its main reception using a selection of high-performance paint solutions and an attractive heritage colour scheme from Crown Trade.

To keep the newly painted reception area looking clean and brighter for longer, Crown Trade’s Clean Extreme Ultimate Opacity Scrubbable Matt was used for the ceilings and broad wall areas, with Crown Trade’s Acrylic Eggshell applied to the skirting boards, door frames and woodwork. The new multipurpose PX4 primer was also used to help prepare areas of original painted stonework so that they could be given a fresh new coat of colour.

To reflect the heritage of the building, the school opted for the main walls of reception area to be painted in the classic blue shade of Victorian Eclectic 15 from Crown Trade’s Historic and Classic Collection. The woodwork was painted in the grey shade of Victorian Eclectic 10 to further accentuate the period feature interior woodwork.

The Victorian school building dates back to 1897 and was designed and built by Samson Fox, one of Harrogate’s most famous residents and former mayors. In more recent years, the school became the first in the town to be recognised as a School of Sanctuary and prides itself on creating a warm and welcoming safe space for all.

REGENCY DESIGN CREATES STUDENT FRIENDLY HAND SANITISING UNITS TO PREVENT CROSS CONTAMINATION ISSUES WHEN SCHOOLS REOPEN

Regency Design, the design and manufacturing business, has launched a bespoke series of automatic hand sanitising stations which come in a variety of sizes to help prevent cross contamination challenges as schools and universities reopen.

 

Complying with the Equality Act, the automatic hand sanitising dispensers have been created to accommodate schools and pupils of all sizes, from nursery and pre-school to senior and secondary schools.

 

To teach younger children especially about the importance of hygiene, Regency Design has created a specific nozzle that dispenses sanitiser in a foam bubble, to make the concept of hand sanitising more fun.

MEGAMAN® LAUNCHES FARRON INTEGRATED LED BATTENS

Megaman has released its new integrated LED batten, Farron, available with a flexible, in-built choice of wattage and lumen outputs. Farron is a direct replacement for T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes and is ideal for education, office or retail applications, providing a wide and even light distribution. Farron is also backed by an excellent five-year warranty.

With a beam angle of 120°, built-in opal diffuser and a colour temperature of 4000K, Farron LED battens are available in four dual wattage and lumen outputs -10/21W, 20/40W, 22/52W and 26/52W – that can be easily switched between, at the touch of a button. The fixture also comes in four sizes, 600mm, 1200mm, 1500mm, and 1800mm, all with a height of 65mm, and a width of 80mm.
