A former primary school in rural Wiltshire is going under the hammer with redevelopment potential. The school closed in 2009 and has been unused ever since.
Wiltshire Council will sell the former Upavon Primary School in a live-streamed BTG Eddisons auction on September 30.
The £350,000 guide price covers about 5,600 sq ft of 1970s school buildings, a tarmac playground and playing fields on a three-acre plot.
Chris Theocharides, senior commercial surveyor at BTG Eddisons Property Auctions, said: “The former school is a substantial site in a village that’s the epitome of beautiful rural Wiltshire, with historic thatched cottages and the upper reaches of the River Avon running right through it.

“If the site finds a buyer at auction, its sale could create a positive new purpose for the land, as well as generating essential additional funds for the local authority.
“After being unused for almost two decades, it will be interesting to see what ideas potential buyers have for the site and how it could be brought back into use, whether that’s for residential, business, or community use.”
The site could have several alternative uses, subject to planning permission and access rights.

Upavon sits on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain in the Vale of Pewsey, about 10 miles north of Salisbury and 19 miles south of Swindon.
Nearby towns include Devizes, Marlborough and Pewsey.
The village has a doctor’s surgery, grocery shop, post office and two pubs.
BTG Eddisons Property Auctions is handling the sale. The national business was formed by bringing together regional brands including Pugh, SDL Property Auctions, Mark Jenkinson and Network Auctions. The group sells residential and commercial property, as well as land, across the UK.
The auction will be streamed live on September 30.
